SO Marketing are a multi-award winning marketing agency based in Leek, Staffordshire, headed up by James Aberley, Richard Latham and Mike Lamey. They have over 10 years’ experience and clients from all industries, from start-ups to multi-nationals. We first met them in 2013 when we were both involved in a local project and, as they learned more about The Donna Louise, they volunteered their help and marketing expertise.
Richard Latham, SO Marketing’s Creative Director, describes the first time he came to visit the hospice, “To be honest I expected it to be a sad place and for the experience to be quite upsetting. That was so not true. Everybody including the children and young adults were smiling constantly, and it was a place to have fun and be happy. After spending the day taking photography and meeting the families, I was hooked and knew that I wanted to be a bigger part of The Donna Louise family.”
When, in 2016, we made the decision to stop discharging our young adults at the age of 19, we knew that we needed to rebrand The Donna Louise to reflect this change and deliver a fundraising appeal to raise the additional funds needed to run the extended service. We began a tender process to find the best agency to help us bring our plans to fruition.
Liz Gratton, Director of Income explains, “We chose SO Marketing as, right from the start, it was very clear that they absolutely understood what The Donna Louise was all about and what we were trying to achieve. They were highly responsive, added lots of value to our thinking and even better they are based right in the heartland of the area we serve.”
Since that time SO Marketing have worked tirelessly with us to bring our vision to life. It was an ambitious plan to deliver a full rebrand, new website and fundraising appeal but SO Marketing have remained flexible and committed to the highest quality at all times. They have continually gone above and beyond. In addition, they have gifted a significant amount of work over and above the original brief, giving us the flexibility to allow ideas to develop and grow as our fundraising appeal took shape.
