On Sunday 20th May, runners of all ages and abilities will be pulling on their running shoes for The Donna Louise’s 14th annual family fun run.

And, this year’s race is back inside Trentham Gardens, after last year started and finished at the South Entrance. This means that all runners and spectators will be able to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the gardens as hundreds of participants take on the 5k and 10k races.

With a brand new route to follow, The Donna Louise is calling on people to set themselves a New Year fitness challenge and sign up for the race now.

Zoë Gregory, Events Manager at The Donna Louise, said, “If your New Year’s resolution was to be healthier and do more exercise then this is the perfect event for you. Registration for our 5k and 10k races is open now so you can sign up, set yourself a fitness goal and really get motivated.”

But you don’t have to be a keen runner to take part, everyone can join in and even well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Each year hundreds of people of all ages and abilities take part, many in fancy dress, making the race a firm favourite in The Donna Louise’s calendar.

Zoë added, “What makes our family fun run really special is the fantastic atmosphere on the day as people of all ages and abilities come together to raise money for the children, young adults and families who use the services of The Donna Louise.”

For the first time The Donna Louise will be operating a park and ride system from the bet365 stadium with free buses to transport all participants and spectators to Trentham Gardens.

Zoë explained, “We’d like to say a huge thank you to First Buses, who will transport runners and spectators to Trentham Gardens, and back to their cars after the race, free of charge. This will help to ease congestion around Trentham Gardens and ensure everyone safely gets to where they need to be. On the day, all participants must park at the bet365 stadium where they’ll simply collect a wristband and hop on a free bus.”

The Donna Louise’s 10k race is recognised under the UK Athletics Certificate of Course Accuracy and all 10k runners will receive a chipped running number which will provide an official race time.

Registration is now open for both races. The 10k race is £15 per person and has an age limit of 16 years and over. The 5k race is open to any age and is £13 per adult, £8 per child or £37 for a family of two adults and two children.

All entrants will receive a medal when they cross the finish line as well as a goody bag.
