In a heart-warming letter, Mum, Amanda, tells us how your Christmas donation could bring laughter and happiness all year long. Please take a moment to read it and make your Christmas donation today.

Dear Friends,

My name is Amanda and I am a mum at The Donna Louise. If you’ve not been to The Donna Louise you could be forgiven for thinking that it’s a sad place, but for the most part, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

When my family visited for the first time, we were terrified. You have all these preconceived ideas about a children’s hospice, but the moment we set foot inside, they all went. It was full of laughter and happiness and, more importantly, there were many families there in the same situation as us.

My son, James, has Infantile Batten Disease. It is always fatal. I don’t have the words to describe how that diagnosis felt. They just don’t exist. Devastated, heartbroken, shocked, crushed just don’t even come close. Coming to The Donna Louise made us realise that we had two options – to let Batten disease ruin our family or dust ourselves down and live. We owe it to James, and his sisters Ruby and Isabel, to give them the best possible life we can. We have a saying, ‘Don’t count the days, make
the days count’ and with the help of The Donna Louise, that’s exactly what we are doing.

While The Donna Louise is there for children and their families at the end of their child’s life, it’s only a small part of what they do. Most of their time is spent helping families like mine make the most out of life while having as much fun as possible along the way. To do that, they rely almost exclusively on donations from people like you.

So, please make a donation this Christmas. Your gift will bring laughter and happiness all year long.

With our very best wishes for a happy and healthy Christmas,

Amanda Harrison
