A note from Director of Care, Dot Gillespie...
The team at the Donna Louise understand how challenging the past few months have been for all the children and families that we care for and support. As we slowly return to some normality we need to understand how we can best care for you and your family in the next 6 -12 months. Please help us to help you by telling us how your care and support needs may have changed and how the team at the Donna Louise could help. Thank you!
As we all continue to adjust to the current situation I would like to take this opportunity to give you an update on what we are doing at the Donna Louise over the next few weeks in order to try to support you and your families in the best way we can.
Families caring for children with life-limiting or complex medical conditions must seek urgent medical support if their child becomes unwell
As a children’s and young people's hospice, every decision we take is informed and guided by the needs of the children and families we support. In line with the latest advice from Public Health England in mind, we are restricting access to the hospice to only those who are receiving or delivering services to our children, young people and families, or providing essential services.
After extremely careful, considered and comprehensive review of all available options, the Board of Trustees of The Donna Louise Hospice for Children and Young People (The Donna Louise) and The Douglas Macmillan Hospice (Dougie Mac) have agreed to integrate The Donna Louise into the existing infrastructure of the Dougie Mac in order to protect the provision of children’s palliative care services in Staffordshire and South Cheshire, both now, and in the future.
