As Managing Director of TF Solutions, Andy takes the lead on the company’s charity partnership and is a passionate advocate for The Donna Louise.

Why did TF Solutions decide to support The Donna Louise?

There are 2 key reasons why we chose to support The Donna Louise, firstly when the business set up in 2001 we had a branch in Stockport and one in Burton-on-Trent so The Donna Louise was ideally situated between the 2 and was supporting children from both areas. Secondly it was about the work that the hospice does, what they do for children and families is just fantastic.

 

How have you supported the hospice?

Initially we did a sponsored walk and when I came to hand over the cheque and do a photo at the hospice, I had a tour and the atmosphere and work really struck a chord with me. The hospice felt really nice and 100% different to what I expected it to be. Since then we have done lots more walks, including the Yorkshire 3 peaks, the National 3 peaks and Snowdon. We have also encouraged our suppliers to take part and have had teams of 10 – 25 people.

A highlight was the football tournament that we arranged for customers. We had 60 people taking part in the event at St George’s Park and raised £5,000. We always do Cards at Christmas too, so instead of sending cards to each other at work, we donate money to The Donna Louise instead.

There are lots of other ways to support the hospice, not just by fundraising. In 2015 we gifted and installed air conditioning in the family rooms and meeting rooms at the hospice. TF Solutions are an air conditioning and refrigeration distributor and it made sense for us to offer our support in an area of expertise for us.

 

How did you get employees engaged and switched on to fundraising for The Donna Louise?

It has been important to tell all staff about the work of the hospice, what it stands for and what it does. People are naturally keen to support a children’s charity. Many of our staff have been with the business a long time, we are like a family really. When we do our walks and events, we have fun and it’s great for team-bonding and team-building too.

 

What’s your “Top-Tip” for fundraising success?

I encourage all key staff members to visit the hospice and see the work first-hand. There can be a bit of trepidation and some nerves if people haven’t visited a hospice before. But it’s very different to what you would expect and really helps people to understand what The Donna Louise is like.
